Ait Ben Haddou Morocco

Here’s a clearer, more natural version in U.S. English: Aït Benhaddou is an ighrem (a fortified village) – known as a ksar in Arabic – located along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present-day Morocco. Most residents, drawn by tourism, now live in more modern houses in a village on the other side of the river, although four families still live in the ancient settlement. Within the ksar’s walls are about half a dozen kasbahs (merchant houses) and other individual dwellings, making it an outstanding example of traditional Moroccan earthen-clay architecture.
